National short-term Expert for the GIZ Project “Skills Development for Climate and Environment Business” in South Africa

Project tasks:

The concept of the programme will be practicing a coordinated approach ensuring that skills development for green jobs is promoted from the supply and the demand side.

The component 2 “Technology Transfer, Innovation and Diffusion” has the following objective: The network of Technology Centers contributes to the improvement of sectoral innovation systems and training for industry focusing on green technologies.

During the three year programme the component will focus on:

1) selection of eligible green projects of Technology Centres

2) capacity development of selected Technology Centres and TIA Infrastructure & Planning Business Unit

3) Skills Development for students, industry partners and technology centre staff

4) documentation and dissemination of best practices

Project location: based at the Technology Innovation Agency, Pretoria, South Africa.

Project period: Approx. 02/2012 ‐ 12/2014

National short-term experts for this GIZ-Project should have the following qualifications:

  • University degree in a relevant area e.g. economics, business administration, entrepreneurial studies, development studies, educational science or similar
  • Good knowledge of the South African working context
  • At least 5 years of work experience in the field of green and sustainable technologies and technology transfer and or skills development.
  • Working experience in development cooperation 
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills in English
  • GIZ (German International Cooperation, formerly GTZ) experience would be an asset
